Welcome to Climbing Wairarapa at 2 Akura Road, Masterton. We offer a variety of rock climbing adventures for climbers of all levels, focused on resilience, teamwork and unforgettable adventure.
Climbing Wairarapa exists to give our community somewhere to be challenged, encouraged and strengthened — through climbing. Whether it's a school group learning outside the classroom, a team building trust on the wall, or a family celebrating a birthday, every session is guided by experienced instructors in a safe, controlled environment.
The facility is run from within Equippers Church Masterton, and reflects the same heart that runs through everything we do: a warm welcome, a safe place to try something new, and a genuine belief that resilience and confidence are built one climb at a time.
Our experienced instructors guide climbers of every age and ability — keeping things safe, encouraging and genuinely fun.
Our stunning climbing wall mural was painted in 2018 by New Zealand artist Sean Duffell, with funding support from the Creative Communities Scheme. It turns every session into an adventure through creation — a colourful backdrop that makes Climbing Wairarapa feel like nowhere else in the region.
Climbing Wairarapa was made possible through generous funding, and we're deeply grateful to Lotteries Community, Eastern & Central Community Trust, Wairarapa Building Society, Trust House, TG Macarthy Trust, Masterton Trust Lands Trust and Equippers Church Masterton.
It was the best experience ever — my instructor made me feel safe and comfortable the whole way through. I'd recommend it to anyone, and I'll definitely be back.
Loved the whole thing — my instructor was really calm and helpful.
I loved the rock climbing and abseiling — there's nothing I'd change.
